Welcome to Five Sense Wanderer: Your Travel Destination Guide

It probably comes as no surprise, but we love to travel! Who is “we,” you might ask? Trinity, the founder of Five Sense Wanderer, and all my friends I have met, and will meet, along the way! This platform is not meant to be about me, but a way for me to share with you the experiences you can have when traveling. I believe that if we are to truly experience a place, even if it’s in your own backyard, we need to immerse all of our five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste… and as a bonus, I’ll even talk about the people I meet. My goal is to inspire a community of like-minded, adventurous souls to slow travel and explore. Even if you are solo traveling, you never have to be lonely. So, I’ll start by offering myself as your new best travel friend. If you are brave enough to keep reading, I’ll give you some of my backstory, the reason I started this brand, how I plan on cultivating this community, and what I hope to share with you in the process. This is going to be a journey, so sit back, buckle up, and prepare for take-off.

1. Introduction

This is Trinity, your captain speaking, here to share some of my story with you. I grew up in an adventurous family, always traveling whenever we could. My dad instilled a love and desire for exploration in all of us, so thanks, dad! By the time I left home, I had already trekked dozens of breathtaking destinations, discovered unique foods, and experienced moments with wonderful people. I was on a quest to soak up all the goodness and joy from those experiences. Very early on, globetrotting became a goal, a passion, and a reality. Though, my bucketlist is still full of places to roam and adventures to discover. Then I got to thinking… I know other people have this “travel bug,” too; why not help them? I’m not saying I have it all figured out, or my guides are perfect or comprehensive, or even that my travel odyssey is the only way to do it. BUT. With a boatload of stories, lessons learned, tips, tricks, and tales up my sleeve, why not share them? So, here we are. Wandering this planet together, one sense at a time. Maybe you’ll even find some nuggets of wisdom, encounter new perspectives, or add new places to your bucket list!

Hi! This is me, Trinity!

2. Mission

With all of that being said, I hope you’re getting a clear picture as to why I wanted to create Five Sense Wanderer. To experience a place is to experience all of the senses. Not only what do you see, but do you hear laughter, waves, and bicycles clicking along; can you feel the cool stones of the road, the textures of hand-sewn fabrics; are there fragrant flowers nearby, or aromas of a fresh bakery; do you taste the subtle hints of oak in the wine, garlic in the pasta, and salt in the air?

Slow down.

Don’t rush through all of it. I encourage you to stop, look, listen, and feel. Close your eyes when you notice a new smell or eat something delicious. Oftentimes, guidebooks will tell you to go to the most popular, touristy, crowded places. And I will never tell you not to do that… I do that sometimes! (Maybe in the early morning though, before the crowds). But- it’s not just the picturesque, Instagram-worthy locations worth our appreciation. We can learn to find joy in the little things. We can also plan our slow travels, armed with the knowledge and wisdom of fellow backpackers and wanderers around the world. I believe in going-with-the-flow, ending up where you end up, and letting life nudge you in the direction you should go. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t be smart about how to do that. So, I also hope to share that knowledge and thinking process with you. And what better way to curate this knowledge than to interview people? I’m no documentarian, but I have a desire to learn about people. Truly engaged, learning from others and their experiences. We have two ears and one mouth, as they say. I hope to inspire you to form genuine, lasting connections with people. We’re all we got.

3. Engagement

The next question is: How do I plan on sharing all of these discoveries with you? Social media, obviously ;) During my travels, I will be collecting moments to share with you. The biggest section of media I’ll share is in the form of a travel or destination guide, divided among the five senses. What to see, sounds to hear, items to touch, aromas to smell, and culinary wonders to taste. I will also pack all of those together to create a full guide of ways to experience a location fully. I will have chats and Q&A sessions with people I meet and share them with you (with the person’s permission, of course). Then, I will gather all of the tips and tricks for navigating a particular place based on my personal experiences to share with you. “What do I need to do to get this information, Trin?” Just follow me! Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, here, or your favorite Podcast platform! Follow, like, share, comment, message… you name it! And if you have a question, comment, concern, or proposal, you can contact me through my Contact page (that is the best place to get a hold of me for business inquiries).

4. Takeaways

At the end of the day, I hope to inspire you, educate you, entertain you, and sell you on slow, intentional travel. If international traveling is not an option for you, have no fear; you can still experience new opportunities in your hometown. I want you to have the fullest life. If you need some recommendations or tips, find them here. If you need a travel buddy, reach out! My story will be different than yours, but instead of comparing stories, let’s create our own magical memories. I made this platform for community and to spark change in the way we do life. Just remember- not all who wander are lost.
